Cycling for Transport

Cycling can be one of the cheapest, quickest, and most environmentally friendly ways of making short journeys in your local area.

Cycle routes

More cycling routes and cycle-friendly facilities are being developed as part of the Bee Network. There’s a cycling map for each of the ten areas of Greater Manchester. You can pick them up at a TfGM travelshop, local library or at some council offices and bike shops. Or you can download the cycling district maps from the TfGM website.

Bike hire

If you’d like to give cycling a go, but you’re not ready to commit to buying a bike, find out more about Manchester’s bike hire scheme and bike libraries

Cycle training

If you’d like to develop your confidence to ride in your area or to ride to work, TfGM offer group cycle training sessions or one-to-one bespoke sessions where you can plan a specific route. Find out more about cycling training courses.

Cycling’s good for business

Cycling and walking routes, bike parking, plus improvements to the public space – trees, dropped curbs, pedestrianised areas – all make for a thriving high street, and one that will encourage customers back regularly. See how we’re supporting businesses across Manchester.

Did you know Manchester has set an ambitious target to become a Zero Carbon city by 2038. By cycling for some journeys, you can play your part.
