There are many opportunities for children and young people to get involved in cycling in Manchester.  

BMX  

The National Cycling Centre (NCC) runs BMX sessions for kids starting with balance bikes sessions little ones just starting out, to Mini BMX Racer sessions for those more confident on a pedal bike.

From toddlers on balance bikes to World and European champion BMX racers, Manchester BMX club is open to anyone who wants the thrill of riding the track. Their state-of-the-art facility hosts sessions for everyone from beginners to experts and qualified coaches are on hand to guide you.

Track cycling   

Children aged nine or over can try track cycling on Manchester’s world-famous Velodrome, riding the same track as past, present and future Olympians, and Paralympians.  

Children aged 10-16 could join Eastlands Velo and Sportcity Velo club based at the NCC

Check out your local community cycling hub to see if they offer activities for families or children. There are three in Manchester.

Cycling UK has lots of useful information on family cycling, including transporting children by bike, teaching your child how to ride, and family friendly cycle routes.

Book onto a family cycle training session with TfGM and learn how to ride safely together on quieter roads.
